As we celebrate International Women’s Day, I wanted to take a moment to shine a light on the incredible women who make hospitality what it is.

Whether they’re leading global hotel brands, running Michelin star restaurants, or making every guest feel at home, women are the true backbone of this industry.

Did you know that 70% of the global hospitality workforce is female? From front-of-house to back-of-house, women are the driving force that keeps things running smoothly.

But here’s where things get interesting—when it comes to leadership, the numbers drop significantly. Only 20% of executive roles and 8% of director positions in hospitality are held by women. That’s a gap that needs closing!

Despite the challenges, women in hospitality continue to achieve incredible things:

  • Leadership Wins – More women than ever are stepping into senior roles, and one-third of UK pub landlords are now women.
  • Culinary Success – Female chefs are making waves, winning Michelin stars, and redefining the industry. One shining example is Sally Abé, a Michelin-starred chef who has carved out an incredible career in a traditionally male-dominated world. Having attended our The Art of Hospitality conference last year, Sally is a true inspiration, proving that talent, passion, and perseverance can break down barriers.
  • Entrepreneurial Power – From boutique hotels to independent restaurants, more women are running their own businesses than ever and changing the game.

The industry is evolving. More mentorship programs, leadership initiatives, and flexible working opportunities are helping women rise through the ranks. And let’s be honest—the more women in leadership, the better hospitality becomes.

At The Hospitality Hero, we know this firsthand—our team is 80% female, and we wouldn’t change it for the world.

Every day, we see the dedication, talent, and passion that women bring to this industry, and we’re proud to champion their success!

Hospitality is at its best when it’s diverse, inclusive, and full of opportunities for all. Let’s keep pushing forward, celebrating the wins, and making sure the next generation of women in hospitality have even more doors open to them!

So, to all the women in hospitality—whether you’re managing hotels, leading teams, running restaurants, or making magic happen behind the scenes—this is a massive thank you.

The industry wouldn’t be the same without you, and the future is yours for the taking!
